Full job description

Position Title: Behavioral Health Provider

Location: Remote

Reports to: Chief Clinical Officer

Website: https://www.joinavela.com/

Are you looking for a meaningful change in your career? We are hiring a behavioral health provider (social worker or psychologist) who are ready to make an impact.

Avela Health is reimagining what support for autistic youth looks like—prioritizing collaborative, affirming care that meets families where they are. Our work begins with centering the child and family every step of the way. For families of young children, this means empowering parents as key partners in their child’s growth and development. For older children and teens, it may also include supporting the teen in developing self-advocacy skills and strategies to help them thrive as their authentic, autistic selves.

If you're passionate about making a difference in the lives of autistic children and their families, we want to hear from you. This is a 100% remote position grounded in a neurodiversity-affirming approach that empowers parents as central agents in fostering their child’s growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based parent-mediated interventions (e.g., developmental interventions, NDBIs) to families of autistic children across the age spectrum, tailoring strategies to meet both lower and high support needs.
  • Provide behavioral/cognitive behavioral interventions to teens (e.g., ACT, transdiagnostic approaches)
  • Deliver services via telehealth, ensuring accessibility, flexibility, and consistent engagement with families.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary remote team, maintaining clear communication and cooperation to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Provide psychoeducation, in-the-moment coaching, and support to parents and youth, empowering them to implement interventions effectively in their everyday routines.
  • Monitor child and family progress, and, with supervision, adjust intervention strategies as needed to align with individualized goals.

Qualifications:

  • Credentialed or licensed as a social worker, psychologist, or counselor
  • Documented experience in case conceptualization and implementation of interventions using a behavioral/cognitive behavioral theoretical orientation
  • Documented experience working with autistic children including those with lower and high support needs, from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective.
  • Proficiency in delivering services via telehealth platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a remote, team-based environment.
  • Commitment to a family-centered, strengths-based approach to supporting autistic individuals and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions, cognitive behavior therapy, and/or Collaborative and Proactive Solutions.
  • Experience with parent coaching and training in naturalistic, home-based settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse family systems and cultural backgrounds.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, fully remote healthcare environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Supportive, collaborative team atmosphere.

To Apply:

Please submit your CV, cover letter, and references to hiring@joinavela.com. In your cover letter, please describe your experience working with autistic children and families from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective and your approach to delivering parent-mediated interventions and/or cognitive behavior therapy for autistic individuals. Share a bit about how you select intervention goals and work towards them in therapy.

Avela Health is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and inclusion in our workforce and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
