Job summary

FirstGroup plc in Glasgow Caledonia Depot is seeking a NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the nightshift team. You will diagnose faults, carry out mechanical repairs, service checks and respond to breakdowns, ensuring vehicles run safely and reliably.

A valid UK driving licence, experience on HGV/PSV, and a strong attention to detail are essential. The role offers a night schedule (8pm–6am), 37 hours minimum, and a £2,000 joining bonus, with pay reviews planned for April 2027.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience working on HGV or PSV.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Strong attention to detail and passion for mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and routine inspections.
• Perform preventative maintenance and component replacements as needed.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries when required.
• Road test vehicles where required and document work accurately.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and health and safety standards.
