Job summary

Qualifications

• Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while managing multiple tasks and frequent interruptions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, general database systems, and web-based applications.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Required to have a yearly influenza vaccination.
• Preferred: Medical or biological science background.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surgical procurement (recovery) of ocular tissues from authorized donors.
• Perform donor medical history reviews and physical assessments, collect blood samples, and document donor information in the eye bank database system.
• Prepare and transport ocular tissues and biological specimens, including transport to and from other locations as needed.
• Maintain compliance with SOPs, HIPAA, and all federal and state regulations, including annual competency reviews.
• After attaining proficiency, assist in hands-on training in ocular tissue procurements.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with team members, leadership, and external partners.
• Assist with facility cleaning, equipment maintenance and other operational tasks or projects as assigned.
