Job summary

Tufts Medicine MelroseWakefield Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the 38-bed Medical 4 unit, nights and weekends. You will provide professional and nonprofessional nursing support under supervision, assisting with hygiene, mobility, and basic care.

This role supports interdisciplinary care, documents care activities, and helps with routine assessments and EKGs as trained. Previous CNA/CMA/EMT experience or nursing student with clinical exposure is preferred; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with clinical experience.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care for patients including personal hygiene, elimination, catheter care, vital signs, skin care and mobility activities; documents according to procedure.
• Reinforces belongings policy with patients and families, documents appropriately, and secures them according to procedure.
• Provides nutritional support assisting with feedings as needed; documents intake and weight as required.
• Performs selected and therapeutic procedures as outlined in competency and skills check list.
• Cooperates with healthcare team to achieve departmental objectives and maintain good relations.
• Sets up equipment for and/or assists physicians/clinicians with treatments, dressings, tests, etc.
• Performs 12 lead EKG and documents patient information; hands results to nurse or physician.
