Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Full-Time Nights position combining direct patient care with unit clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse. The role supports the patient care team, keeps environments clean, and assists physicians, patients, families, and vendors with information and guidance.

You may schedule tests, maintain records, sign patients in/out, and handle equipment deliveries as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR certification may be required to complete Unit Secretary training program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through AHA or IU Health PCA program may be required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Supports the patient care team and ensures a clean, orderly environment for patients.
• Provides information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May schedule tests and procedures and maintain patient records.
• May sign patients in and out of the unit and handle equipment delivery/receiving.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
