Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking an EKG Telemetry Monitor Technician for the night shift. You will initiate, monitor, and troubleshoot telemetry leads and interprets ECG strips to establish baselines and detect significant changes.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, 1 year of Monitor Tech experience or a Basic EKG course, and a BLS certification on hire; telemetry experience is strongly preferred and English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of Monitor Tech experience or completion of a Basic EKG course; English communication required.
• BLS certification required upon hire; telemetry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, maintains, troubleshoots and discontinues electrodes, leads, and transmitters; selects appropriate lead and assesses tracing quality.
• Interprets EKG strips (rate, rhythm, intervals) and records baseline data at shift start and as needed.
• Keeps telemetry log current and ensures equipment is ready; reports abnormal/critical arrhythmias to RN immediately.
• Gives shift reports including rhythm, rate, and changes to the oncoming staff; maintains patient safety.
