Job summary

Mercy Health in Springfield is seeking a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist to support the Sleep Lab with polysomnography, diagnostics, and patient education. You will follow AASM guidelines, coordinate with physicians, and ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• At least one year of previous experience in neurophysiology or sleep disorders medicine (preferred).
• Proficient with computers, sleep equipment, devices and software.
• Comprehensive knowledge of guidelines pertaining to sleep medicine and testing.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the patient, explains the procedure; reviews clinical data and bases testing modalities on information obtained; operates polysomnographic equipment to obtain diagnostic recordings.
• Documents detailed, accurate technical reports to aid physicians in interpretation of test data; reviews studies with physicians to clarify discrepancies.
• Administers neurodiagnostic procedures while following appropriate protocols; monitors test quality and follows policies; maintains a clean work area.
• Helps coordinate patient scheduling, receives payments, reviews charges and assists with office tasks.
• Performs sleep staging and event scoring per AASM guidelines; may perform monthly QA and reporting as needed.
• Troubleshoots all polysomnographic and office equipment.
