Job summary

Mercy seeks a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to join our Sleep Lab on a PRN basis. You will perform comprehensive sleep studies, scoring, and related interventions under physician supervision, ensuring patient safety and accurate reporting.

You will apply electrodes, calibrate equipment, monitor overnight studies, and educate patients on PAP therapy and sleep disorders, while maintaining infection control and EMR documentation. Prior PAP therapy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Polysomnography program.
• Previous experience in sleep diagnostics and PAP therapy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sleep study equipment according to department standards.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM standards.
• Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies, including CPAP/BiPAP titration studies.
• Perform split-night studies and Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT).
• Continuously monitor patients and respond to sleep-related events and emergencies.
• Score sleep studies and create detailed reports following AASM guidelines.
• Educate patients on sleep disorders, PAP therapy, and equipment use.
• Maintain infection prevention and safety protocols in clinical environments.
• Document procedures, results, and patient interactions in the EMR.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
