Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a part-time yard switcher and package handler to move trailers to and from doors and manage yard operations. The role includes manual handling of packages, safety procedures, and coordination with central control.

Responsibilities include trailer hooking, movement, inspections of equipment, and accurate documentation of trailer moves using available systems. You may work two to four hour shifts with rest periods as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors; switches trailers from yard to load/unload doors.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Loads and unloads packages by hand as needed; sorts packages by destination.
• Operates conveyor system components and uses scanning equipment to sort packages.
