Job Title: Order Puller / Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on accurately pulling and preparing orders for outbound company trucks and on-site customers while safely operating material handling equipment. You will work both indoors and outdoors in a product yard and warehouse environment, operate sit-down forklifts and overhead hoists, and provide direct, face-to-face customer service. The position also includes general yard and production area cleanup to maintain a safe and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Pull and prepare orders for outbound company trucks according to established procedures and documentation.
• Assist clients who come into the yard by locating, pulling, and staging their orders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Operate sit-down forklifts safely to move, load, and unload materials from both indoor storage and the outdoor product yard.
• Use overhead hoists as needed to lift, move, and position heavier products safely and efficiently.
• Handle materials carefully to prevent damage while loading, unloading, and staging products.
• Perform inventory-related tasks such as locating products, confirming quantities, and helping maintain accurate stock levels through proper order picking.
• Provide direct, face-to-face customer service, answering questions and assisting customers with their product needs in a professional and courteous manner.
• Load materials onto trucks or customer vehicles, ensuring loads are secure and meet safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized yard and production area by performing general cleanup, including removing debris and keeping work areas free of hazards.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment and company-provided safety gear while working in the yard and warehouse.
• Coordinate with team members and supervisors to prioritize orders and meet shipping and pickup deadlines.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in order picking.
• Hands-on experience with material handling in a yard or warehouse environment.
• Proficiency in operating sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Ability to perform accurate order picking and inventory-related tasks.
• Experience with loading and unloading materials onto trucks or customer vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate pulling, staging, and loading of orders.
• Ability to provide direct, face-to-face customer service in a professional manner.
• Capability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and using required safety equipment.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and perform material handling tasks throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a product yard, warehouse, or similar industrial environment.
• Familiarity with overhead hoists or similar lifting equipment.
• Basic understanding of inventory processes and stock location systems.
• Ability to work second shift hours, Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Reliable work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision once trained.

Work Environment

The role takes place in both indoor warehouse areas and an outdoor product yard, depending on where materials are stored. Team members must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions and dress appropriately for either indoor or outdoor work. Steel‑toed boots are required for safety. Typical attire includes jeans and a T‑shirt, with the company providing a hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses. The position is for second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., in a physically active environment that involves operating sit‑down forklifts and overhead hoists, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and organized yard and production area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
