Job summary

Star of the West in Ligonier, IN is seeking a facility staff member to load, seal, and complete paperwork on outbound trailers and both inbound and outbound railcars. You will also handle Midds trailers and help ensure shipments meet schedules.

The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk stairs, and climb trailers. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Occasional weekend or extended hours may be needed; opportunities exist for packing and routine cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Load, seal and complete all paperwork on outbound trailers of finished product.
• Load, seal and complete all paperwork on inbound and outbound railcars.
• Load and complete all paperwork on Midds trailers.
• Work to maximum but not exceed legal net weights on tractor and trailer combinations.
• Assist the shift miller as needed.
• Complete assigned cleaning and maintenance activities; clean mezzanine weekly.
• Assist in the packing operation when necessary.
• Perform tasks without damage to company property.
• Observe shipping schedules and report any deviations.
• Proactively offer facility and system improvements.
• Observe and report any unusual activity regarding site security.
• Check diesel fuel in track mobile and yard tractor after every shift.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Load, seal and complete all paperwork on all inbound and outbound railcars.
• Load and complete all paperwork on all Midds trailers.
• Load to maximum, but not to exceed legal net weights on all tractor and trailer combinations.

• Assist in the packing operation when necessary.
• Perform the above tasks without damage to company property.
• Ensure compliance with shipping schedule.
• Responsible to proactively offer facility and system improvements.
• Responsible to observe and report any unusual activity regarding site security.
• Responsible to check diesel fuel in track mobile and yard tractor after every shift.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Occasional flexibility to work other shifts, weekends, or extended hours may be required to provide coverage during vacations, absences, or increased business demands
• Physically able to perform all milling requirements including but not limited to:
  • Ability to walk stairs and climb up and down bulk trailers during the course of a nine hour shift
  • General cleaning
  • General mill maintenance and repair
  • Ability to pack up to 50 lb. sacks

Physical Demands

Physically able to perform all requirements including but not limited to:

• Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physically able to walk stairs and climb up/down bulk trailers during an eight-hour shift.
• Ability to perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
