Job summary

Worthington Steel in Monroe, OH is seeking an experienced Maintenance Machinist to perform manual machining, repair blanking dies, and fabricate precision components for our manufacturing operations.

This hands-on role requires reading blueprints and SolidWorks drawings, operating mills, lathes, and grinders, and maintaining tooling with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. Training starts on day shift before transitioning to nights.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and SolidWorks drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and precision measurement.
• Experience maintaining/repairing production tooling and dies.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other precision machining equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on blanking dies to maintain accuracy and reliability.
• Machine, fabricate, repair, and modify tooling, die components, fixtures, and replacement parts.
• Read mechanical blueprints, SolidWorks drawings, and technical specifications.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools to verify tolerances.
• Identify wear or damage on tooling and perform repairs/adjustments.
• Troubleshoot machining problems and implement effective solutions.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to minimize downtime and improve tooling performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling reliability and machining processes.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
