Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to disassemble, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments across levels 1–3. You will manage inventory, provide sterile supplies to hospital areas, and ensure compliance with IFUs.

Training will progress to independent work with supervision reduced as competencies are validated. The role requires certification within a year for Level 1, with Level 2–3 certification mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must attain Central Processing Certification from HSPA within one year of hire date.
• Central Processing Certification from HSPA required for Levels 2-3.
• Preferred: CER or CIS certification through HSPA (Level 3).
• Experience with Sterile Processing Department software.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect basic surgical instruments.
• Identify, assemble, wrap, contain, peel pack, label and sterilize instruments.
• Print needs lists and collect items for surgical/medical procedures.
• Issue sterile supplies to hospital departments and regional campuses.
• Perform inventory duties and communicate with providers and vendors.
• Teach, train, orient and precept SPD students and new staff.
• Validate basic competencies for Sterile Processing within our education system.
• Read and follow manufacturers’ instructions for use (IFU).
