Job summary

Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto is seeking a Night - 08 Hour Sterile Processing Technician I to support decontamination, assembly, sterilization and storage of patient care instruments. You will work within the Sterile Processing Department, following SHC policies and contributing to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

The role requires basic education and certification readiness, with opportunities to train, grow, and participate in regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• CRCST certification or eligibility required within 1 year.
• CSPDT certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with training of new staff.
• Maintains inventory efficiently and ensures prudent use of resources.
• Follows Hospital Safety and Infection Prevention policies for staff, patients, and visitors.
• Maintains professional behavior and appearance.
• Pursues ongoing self-development through educational opportunities.
• Manages shift activity in manual or electronic systems and reports discrepancies.
• Participates in quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance initiatives.
• Participates in committees and task forces as requested.
• Works collaboratively to meet department goals and uphold SHC vision.
• Performs decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of supplies following standard procedures.
• Prepares shift work reports and communicates issues to leadership.
• Promotes a positive work environment with strong communication and teamwork.
