Job summary

Scripps Mercy San Diego is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for night shifts (1900-0330) on varied days. You will clean, sterilize, and distribute instruments, ensuring aseptic standards and timely delivery to patient care areas. Eligible for retention incentives and relocation assistance for eligible moves.

Qualifications

• Completion of SPD training program or equivalent; on-the-job training accepted.
• Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• CRCST or CBSPD Certification; if not, must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• One year SPD experience in lieu of certification acceptable upon hire or via transition program.
• Preferred: 3 years SPD experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Clean, package, sterilize, store, and distribute medical instruments and supplies used in procedures.
• Disinfect equipment according to asepsis principles.
• Respond to requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to prevent patient exposure to bioburden.
• Test and record sterilizer equipment performance to ensure compliance with sterility standards.
• Maintain established control systems for supplies and equipment processed.
