Job summary

R. H. Sheppard Co. is seeking a General Assembler to work on a night shift assembling steering gear components.

The role involves reading blueprints, using gauges, applying torque, and ensuring seals and covers fit correctly. You’ll work closely with nearby teammates and operate with conveyors and automated checks. Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED and be comfortable with shop math, SPC data collection, and Lean manufacturing practices such as 5S and JIT.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Shop math and blueprint reading preferred.
• Problem solving/troubleshooting skills required.
• Lean Manufacturing techniques (5S, JIT, Continuous Improvement) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble steering gear components on the production line using gauges and torque tools.
• Interpret blueprints and work orders; verify dimensions and quality; perform SPC data collection and record-keeping.
• Maintain safety and ISO/TS environmental and quality standards; follow 5S practices.
• Load, unload and handle parts; inspect, adjust, and repair as needed; collaborate with team to meet production goals.
