Job summary

Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) is seeking a Stationary Engineering Assistant for the night shift at the Newark, OH facility. This role performs inspections, logkeeping, and routine maintenance of boilers, pumps, and HVAC equipment, contributing to patient safety and facility reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, some technical knowledge, and up to one year of on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Understand, transmit and follow simple oral and/or written instructions and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Some basic technical knowledge from up to six months of vocational training.
Requires up to one year of on-the-job training.
General knowledge of boilers, circulating pumps and valves.
Must have valid Ohio driver’s license.
LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.

Responsibilities

Maintain a log at the beginning of the shift and perform equipment inspections during the shift.
Maintain chemical feed systems and add chemicals as directed by the engineer on duty.
Clean boiler, boiler room and equipment room and perform related custodial and cleaning duties as necessary.
Perform general maintenance tasks throughout the Hospital, especially when the maintenance department is closed.
Clean and/or replaced filter material for air and water supply systems.
Assist the grounds department in the care of parking lot, sidewalks and the grounds in general, including snow removal in Winter months and shrub care during summer months.
Assist the Engineer on duty with equipment repairs, preventive maintenance and related work.
