Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn invites applications for a Senior Laboratory Assistant (Phlebotomy) to support day-to-day lab operations in Sunset Park. You will handle specimen processing, front-end labeling, and workflow coordination on the night shift.

The role requires a high school diploma with biology/chemistry credits, basic data entry skills in Excel/Word, and strong communication. Prior lab experience and accuracy in specimen handling are preferred; vary with responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 12 college credits in biology or chemistry.
• Laboratory experience handling blood and body fluids.
• Knowledge of computer applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Screening and accessioning specimens in LIS.
• Maintains supplies and communicates needs to supervisor.
• Receives goods and documents per NYU policies.
• Handles specimen requirements and communicates with providers.
• Prepares samples for analysis (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting).
• Processes samples for storage and disposal per policy.
• Cleans work surfaces and maintains equipment logs.
• Answers calls and assists with test requirements and availability.
• Performs phlebotomy services for inpatients.
