Job summary

Hudson Public Schools at Quinn Middle School in Hudson, Massachusetts is seeking a Custodian- Night Shift to provide a safe, clean, and efficient learning environment. The role reports to the Director of Facilities and requires duties such as boiler maintenance, repairs, snow removal, security, and opening/closing the building.

The position runs 2:00-10:00pm year-round with 12 months, 260 days, and benefits eligibility on start date.

Qualifications

• Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
• Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
• Must be able to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing with Administration, Teaching Staff, and the General Public
• Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned.
• Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

Responsibilities

• Cleans and regularly maintains all boilers and other major equipment.
• Participates in painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanical areas.
• Report broken windows or provide temporary covering as needed.
• Assists other staff or contracted personnel.
• Assists in snow removal and insures that walkways are sanded.
• Participates in general cleaning and maintenance of the school building.
• Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities.
• Assumes responsibility for security and fire safety of the buildings.
• Performs emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems for economy and comfort.
• Checks exit doors and panic bolts during occupancy.
• Performs yard keeping chores to maintain safe and attractive grounds.
• Reports major repairs promptly and any damage to property.
• Opening/closing of the building and securing all doors/windows.
• Keeps inventory of supplies and requisitions replacements in time.
• Performs other tasks as directed by the Director of Facilities and Head Custodian.
