Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking an experienced Custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities across district sites. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, setting up rooms for events, and basic maintenance tasks.

Positions may require early morning, afternoon, evening, or night shifts during the school year. Ideal candidates will have at least six months of reliable work history and a solid understanding of cleaning materials and equipment.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience demonstrating reliability, responsibility and good work habits.
• Knowledge of reading, writing and basic arithmetic sufficient to perform job duties.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, shampoos, and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets; dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork; cleans walls, restrooms, locker rooms and showers.
• Performs minor maintenance such as replacing lights or painting small rooms or trim; reports vandalism and items needing repair.
• Operates and maintains cleaning equipment; moves furniture and sets up rooms for events as needed; ensures doors/windows are locked and alarms set.
• Participates in intensive cleaning/restoration of buildings during vacations; maintains cleanliness of district facilities.
