Job summary

The National Aquarium is seeking a Safety and Security Lead to oversee the overnight security shift, ensuring safety of staff, guests and animals. You will supervise post coverage, de-escalate conflicts, coach new team members, and coordinate with management during incidents.

This on-site role requires strong communication, documentation in Salesforce, and a proactive approach to risk management, with a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Security or public-safety experience required.
• Maryland Security License or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to monitor and respond to security systems and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Lead overnight shift, supervise safety operations and log activities.
• Staff indoor and outdoor posts; de-escalate conflicts professionally.
• Train new officers and document competency progress.
• Coordinate with management and public safety as needed.
• Generate detailed reports in Salesforce and maintain logs.
