Sheakley Workforce Staffing is seeking a Construction Safety Manager for night shift in Los Angeles, CA, to lead field safety on a major highway improvement project. The role demands hands-on oversight of safety for heavy civil construction activities, with a strong emphasis on hazard identification and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess a CHST or higher BCSP credential, OSHA 30 Construction, 2+ years of heavy civil safety experience, and current First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for highway construction operations
• Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
• Monitor traffic control operations, roadway work, excavation activities, and heavy equipment operations
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
• Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
• Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
• Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
• Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
