Job summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at Methodist Midlothian Medical Center provides therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care to adults and neonates during the night shift, including ABG and PFT procedures, ventilator support, oxygen, and airway maintenance.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and at least six months of experience; candidates must interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data and maintain equipment.

Qualifications

• Six months of respiratory care experience.
• Must interpret the CXR, ABG, and PFTs.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Provides a bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and chart review to support a treatment evaluation.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators and gas delivery devices.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance activities.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Texas licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
