Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse at the Kent Campus in Dover for part-time night shifts. The RN provides professional nursing care with a focus on telemetry, complex comorbidities, and a continuum between ICU and medical‑surgical units.

Qualifications

• RN with an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma required.
• ACLS/PALS may be required per manager's direction.
• Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population in the acute care setting.
• Develop patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and LPN staff.
• Demonstrate values of compassion, accountability, respect, integrity and teamwork.
• Demonstrate understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans.
• Participate in decision making and actions based on ethical principles.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within scope and range of responsibilities
