Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, DE, seeks a Registered Nurse for the Kent Campus Night shift (Full Time, 72 hours). The RN provides direct, professional care in an acute setting, develops patient-centered care plans, and ensures precise documentation and safe medication administration.

The role requires a Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing with RN and BLS, ACLS/PALS as directed, and a preference for BSN.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• RN with BLS.
• ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
• Acute care RN experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
