Job summary

Duke Careers in Durham, NC is seeking an Experienced Registered Nurse (Night) to join the Patient Flow & Transfer Center at Duke University Hospital. The role supports patient movement across units, with a focus on safe, efficient transfers in a world-class health system.

The ideal candidate will have a BSN, continuous BLS certification, and at least three years of direct inpatient experience, preferably in ED, Critical Care, or a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Qualifications

• Three years of Critical Care or ED nursing experience required at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• BSN degree from an accredited nursing program is required.
• Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure to practice in NC.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient movement within the Duke Health System, including transfers between inpatient units, PACU, ED, and ambulatory clinics.
• Provide 24/7 coverage to support transfer needs while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Deliver patient-centered care with clinical decision-making based on acuity and safety.
