Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse for a night shift PRN position on the 8th Floor - Medical Surgical unit. The successful candidate will provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements include a graduate of an accredited nursing program, Texas RN licensure (or compact), and BLS certification. The role may involve precepting and potential charge nurse duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must have current, valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or a valid Compact RN license.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a patient advocate focusing on patient needs and rights.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable rules and ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
• Performs appropriate patient assessments, planning, and discharge coordination.
• Collaborates with the nursing team and supports other staff as needed.
• Demonstrates leadership as a potential preceptor or charge nurse when rotated.
