Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Pre‑Op & PACU team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The role provides high‑acuity, fast‑paced care for adult and pediatric surgical patients, partnering with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience required; ED, ICU, Intercare/IMC, strongly preferred.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult and pediatric surgical patients.
• Prepare patients and families for surgical procedures through education and clinical assessment.
• Provide post‑anesthesia recovery care and monitor patients for changes in condition.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high‑quality care.
• Manage care for patients in a high‑acuity, fast‑paced clinical environment.
• Utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to respond to changing patient needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Support patient safety, quality initiatives, and excellent patient experience outcomes.
• Job Type: Full‑Time
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: 12‑hour shifts, 2:00 PM–2:30 AM
• On‑Call Requirement: Participation in a rotating weekend on‑call schedule, including daytime and overnight coverage, is required
• Other Scheduling Requirements: Staff typically work 4–5 weekends per year and are assigned weekend on‑call coverage approximately 4–5 weekends per year; actual scheduling may vary based on departmental need
