Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Shift Coordinator (Charge) RN for the Delnor Neurology Unit. This full-time night position involves leading a team during three 12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a), with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

The role emphasizes nursing leadership, patient safety, and efficient unit operations across the shift. Responsibilities include staffing, patient care coordination, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while delivering high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Telemetry competency and nursing skills.
• Fluent English communication.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Knowledge of ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and coordinates daily unit operations and care delivery.
• Oversees staffing and assigns schedules per shift.
• Monitors patient placement, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Communicates effectively with staff, patients and families.
• Implements unit processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintains awareness of high-risk patient conditions and escalates as needed.
• Ensures documentation and coding accuracy for daily charges.
