Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Staffing Response Team (SRT) RN for a full‑time night shift (7:00 pm–7:00 am) in Acute Medicine/Surgery Care. The role requires 2 years of recent Acute Med/Surg experience and involves inpatient nursing across multiple units/campuses.

The RN must graduate from a professional nursing program, be licensed in North Carolina, and hold BLS for Healthcare Providers. One year of nursing experience is required; weekend and holiday coverage is specified.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• RN licensed in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs; attend education programs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers; assess developmental level.
• Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance in care plan revision; discuss with interdisciplinary team; communicate information to promote continuity of care.
• Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing; apply organizational policies and procedures; prioritize care; consult resources for complex cases.
• Develop and achieve professional growth goals; collaborate on unit goals and improvement activities; use communication systems; promote cost‑effective care; give feedback; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Recognize priorities from complex assessment; synthesize data; anticipate discharge needs; build relationships to advocate for patients.
• Collaborate with patient/family to prepare/update plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; address cultural/ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for complex problems.
• Read relevant journals; bring ideas and questions to staff for application.
