Job summary

Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Texas seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to perform ABG, PFTs, and various ventilator support therapies for adults and neonates. Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.
• NICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics: oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol/humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation: bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and medical record review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFTs when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, delivery devices, blood gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
