Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum associate degree.
• RCP license and NBRC credential (RRT/CRT) required within specified timeframe.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients using respiratory therapy processes and related diagnostics.
• Operate ventilators in critical and noncritical care venues and assist physicians.
• Provide prescribed medications and therapies per orders.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment; request service as needed.
• Educate patients on therapy aims, self-care and disease management.
• Collaborate with departments to manage patient care and problem solve.
• Adhere to policies, adapt to service areas, and ensure safe care.
• Communicate clearly during handoffs to maintain continuity.
• Promote patient safety and report events or near misses.
• Teach and precept new teammates and students.
