Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adults and neonates. You will perform ABG, PFT, ventilation support, oxygen therapy and airway maintenance under indirect supervision, following departmental policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate holds an accredited respiratory care credential, state license, NBRC registration and current BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS should be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have clinical experience in respiratory care.
• Basic to advanced life support certifications required.
• Active state license and NBRC registration.
• Within 1 year of hire, pursue NRP/PALS as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, aerosol therapy, airway maintenance and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, PFTs and ECGs.
• Prepares bedside treatment evaluations with patient history and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots CP equipment (ventilators, gas analyzers, etc.).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Maintains and cleans cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses scripted communication to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.

BLS certification
