Job summary

HDR is delivering PM/CM services for the LAWA ATMP Landside Improvements Project. The Construction Engineer supports the Resident Engineer with inspection, contract admin, and coordination with LAWA, Caltrans and City of LA.

The role emphasizes field oversight of roadways, structures, and utilities with emphasis on safety, documentation, and QA/QC on site. Valid California PE or EIT preferred; travel to job sites required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• Requires PE license or working toward PE.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Estimating & CPM Scheduling Software, and web-based document collaboration software.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support LAWA Construction Inspection Division and City of LA with nightly field inspections.
• Prepare and maintain inspection checklists and field material sampling/testing.
• Prepare and maintain project records, daily reports, photos, punch lists and as-built documentation.
• Assist with the review and processing of submittals, RFIs, Field Directives, change orders.
• Monitor contractor progress and participate in schedule reviews and look-ahead coordination.
• Support safety, traffic control, environmental compliance on site.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing and source inspection with QA team.
• Provide field support during layout, construction staking, and verification of pay items.
