Job summary

CMTS LLC in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Construction Engineer to support the Resident Engineer with field construction inspection and oversight of public works projects, including roadways, bridges and utilities. This full-time night-shift role emphasizes documentation, coordination with contractors, and compliance with plans and safety standards.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is required, plus PE license eligibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field required.
Previous construction engineering experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or licensing eligibility required/recognized.
Experience with scheduling software and project documentation tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and support LAWA Construction Inspection Division and City of Los Angeles with nightly field inspections.
Prepare and maintain checklists for inspections, field sampling, and testing.
Maintain project records including plans, specs, daily reports, quantities, photos, punch lists, and as‑built documents.
Assist with submittals, RFIs, field directives, and change orders.
Monitor contractor progress and participate in schedule reviews and look‑ahead coordination.
Support jobsite safety, traffic control, and environmental compliance.
