Job summary

River Oaks Hospital, a private psychiatric facility in the New Orleans metro area affiliated with Universal Health Services, is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse (RN) for night shift to deliver compassionate mental health care. You will perform assessments, administer psychotropic medications, respond to crises, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team while rotating weekend schedules.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus accompanies the role.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license with current Louisiana state certification.
• Experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings required.
• ER nursing experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mental health assessment tools, medication administration, and crisis intervention.
• Experience with developmental disabilities or memory care is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care, including crisis intervention and stabilization.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments (vital signs, mental status, risk).
• Administer medications, monitor for adverse reactions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop treatment plans.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical documentation.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatments.
• Respond to emergencies using de-escalation techniques and crisis management.
