Qualifications

• Valid RN license with current Louisiana state certification.
• Prior experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
• ER nursing experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mental health assessment, medication administration, and crisis intervention.
• Experience with developmental disabilities or memory care is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to manage acute pain and emergency response.
• Excellent communication and compassionate patient care.
• Critical care or hospital medicine background enhances suitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care including crisis intervention and stabilization.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments (vital signs, mental status, risk assessments).
• Administer medications, monitor for adverse effects, including psychotropic agents.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or escalations using de-escalation and crisis protocols.
