Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II to provide direct patient care in an inpatient psychiatric setting at Wichita Falls State Hospital. The role supports recovery plans, documents patient progress, and works under RN supervision to ensure safe, therapeutic care during night shifts.

The position emphasizes teamwork, crisis response, and patient-centered care with opportunities for professional growth within HHSC’s State Hospitals system.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) months’ work experience required.
• Twelve (12) months of direct care experience preferred.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR within 60 days of employment.
• Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain one within 90 days if transporting patients.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may work a rotating schedule or O/T as needed.
• Maintains direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions with patients to promote recovery.
• Assists licensed nurses with medication administration and vital signs monitoring.
• Promotes safety and supports patient participation in programs and activities.
• Participates in recovery team meetings and shift handoffs.
