Job summary

Newport News Behavioral Health Center in Newport News, VA, is seeking an experienced registered nurse to supervise and deliver quality psychiatric and chemical dependency nursing care to adolescent clients. This role supports the multidisciplinary team, upholds safety, and provides after-hour administrative support while ensuring appropriate nurse staffing levels.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience in Psychiatric Nursing desirable.
• Preferred 1 year experience working and/or treating adolescents.
• Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
• Ability to supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing all variance reports, determining methods of correction, and communicating pertinent findings to Administration and Performance Improvement personnel.
• Collaboration with nursing and community counseling staff to ensure implementation of the facility’s designated program
• Ongoing collaboration with Department Directors and/or other facility designated disciplines to ensure proper medical/technical operations.
• Represent and/or ensure representation of nursing services in order to complete all required nursing functions in the weekly multidisciplinary Treatment Team Staff Meetings.
• Maintains familiarity with client population treatment goals to ensure and assist in the delivery of care.
