Production Area Supervisor
Description
Under broad direction from the Production Area Manager, the Production Area Supervisor directs activities and leads work center teams, each with a Line Leader, to meet production plans and goals. The management time horizon typically ranges from shift to weekly. The supervisor is primarily accountable for the performance of their own production teams and work centers, with secondary accountability for other teams within the department. They work collaboratively with other Production Area Team Leaders to ensure optimal resource movement across the department, supporting production schedule attainment. The supervisor is responsible for leading work center teams and Line Leads to ensure the safe production of packed goods aligned with quality standards, service goals, and efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Coaches, mentors, and develops Line Leaders to effectively manage their teams to meet production goals (safety, quality, service, efficiency) for each shift, day, and week.
- Tracks and trends performance against goals, recognizing good performance and addressing gaps by setting clear expectations and reinforcing them with team members.
- Collaborates with the Production Scheduler to ensure daily delivery of the production schedule in line with the weekly plan.
- Reports on production execution versus plan/targets daily and throughout the week, taking corrective actions as needed to ensure schedule adherence.
- Engages with other departments through routine and ad-hoc meetings to meet production needs and organizational goals.
- Models organizational values and behaviors, emphasizing safety, respect, and commitment to company and customer success.
- Leads communication and engagement initiatives regarding business priorities, performance, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and change management.
- Implements corrective actions from incidents and improvement initiatives via Line Leads and teams.
- Supports development and training of teams, ensuring adherence to SOPs and operating processes.
- Manages performance and development of team members, coordinating with HR and ensuring proper documentation and communication.
- Addresses and resolves issues as directed by the Production Area Manager.
- Schedules staff, reviews leave requests, and manages payroll adjustments to support weekly payroll processing.
- Reports on production performance within their area.
- Ensures shift reports are generated and issued timely by Line Leaders.
- Reviews quality of production components and WIP, communicating or escalating issues as necessary.
- Reports incidents, hazards, and potential issues related to personnel, quality, and safety.
- Collaborates with maintenance for equipment upkeep and repairs according to the maintenance plan.

Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Associates degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of related production or assembly line experience, preferably in fluid-based CPG.
- Experience leading and supervising teams in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors:
- Cross-functional operations experience with understanding of plant functions.
- Strong initiative for process and performance improvements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
