Job summary

Capable in San Francisco seeks an experienced scientist to lead cell-based GPCR assays on a dedicated night shift. You will own assay quality, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure smooth handoffs to synthesis, automation, and biology for a continuous experimentation loop.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with GPCR readouts (calcium flux, cAMP, IP1) and experience across transient/stable cells, with strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in cell-based GPCR assays and related readouts.
• Ability to work night shift reliably and independently.
• Strong experimental judgment and data interpretation.
• Experience across transient and stable cell systems.
• Hands-on experience with multiple assay modalities (fluorescence, luminescence, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and optimization of cell-based GPCR assays.
• Develop workflows across transient and stable cell systems.
• Use fluorescence, luminescence, HTRF/TR-FRET, BRET, ELISA, plate-reader, imaging to characterize potency, efficacy, kinetics.
• Set assay controls and troubleshooting strategies for interpretable data.
• Investigate noisy curves and root causes; ensure clean handoffs daily.
• Collaborate with chemists and automation engineers to connect compounds to activity.
• Document overnight work and provide clear handoffs.
