Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking a Nightshift Production Shift Manager to oversee the poultry processing production operations of the plant. The role directs supervision to meet objectives at quality and safety standards while maintaining costs.

Responsibilities include coordinating across production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, shipping and receiving; driving efficiency, yield and quality goals; and training staff for improved performance. A HS diploma is required, BA/BS preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the poultry/food industry required, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role.
• Must have good leadership skills and the ability to interact with operational and processing management.
• Must demonstrate critical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Managing the poultry processing production operations of the plant.
• Coordinating production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, shipping and receiving areas.
• Monitoring department performance to meet production efficiency, yield and quality goals.
• Setting objectives and reviewing shift performance versus objectives.
• Encouraging subordinates to find ways to reduce cost.
• Ensuring sanitation meets USDA standards.
• Coordinating production and sanitation maintenance to meet daily needs.
• Analyzing equipment daily and reviewing with maintenance superintendent.
• Providing direction for supervisors and encouraging teamwork to achieve goals.
• Establishing challenging goals and standards for each supervisor and promoting best effort.
• Ensuring effective utilization of human resources through training, motivation, and performance appraisal.
