Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco is seeking a PRN Postpartum Registered Nurse for the night shift to lead direct patient care for postpartum and gynecologic patients. You will perform maternal/fetal monitoring, medication administration, and education while ensuring safety and compliance with Joint Commission and state standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating care with oncoming shifts, addressing educational needs, and supporting breastfeeding efforts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• RN licensure in Texas (current).
• BLS certification required.
• NRP required before orientation completion.
• 1 year RN hospital experience in L&D/Antepartum/Postpartum/Med-Surg preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care per RN scope and hospital procedures.
• Assess psychosocial, educational, and physical needs of patients across ages.
• Perform maternal/fetal monitoring, assessments, and interpretation.
• Monitor labs and report abnormalities.
• Assist with anesthesia-related monitoring (epidurals, general, locals).
• Communicate patient status to oncoming staff using SHARE format.
• Ensure EMTALA and OB triage policies are followed.
• Develop and update daily care plans and documentation.
• Manage pain using pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic methods.
• Support breastfeeding per policies and protocols.
