Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America operates our sand and gravel plants across the region and seeks a hands-on Plant Operator to safely run equipment.

You will perform inspections, monitor conveyors, screens, crushers, and support production goals while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The role requires a strong safety mindset and collaborative teamwork in an outdoor production setting.

Job description

Operate and monitor plant equipment to safely produce high-quality sand and gravel products.

Perform routine equipment inspections, identify potential issues, and assist with basic maintenance and repairs.

Monitor material flow, conveyors, screens, crushers, and other processing equipment to support efficient production.

Maintain clean and organized work areas while following established safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain safe, reliable plant operations.

What Are We Looking For

Ability to safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot plant and mobile equipment while following established procedures.

Strong safety mindset with the ability to recognize hazards, communicate concerns, and take appropriate action.

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine inspections, basic maintenance, and minor equipment adjustments.

Ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, follow instructions, and adapt to changing operational priorities.

Dependability and willingness to work in a hands-on, outdoor production environment.

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, post-offer drug screen, and background check.

Physical Demands of the Job

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing job duties.

Ability to safely climb stairs and ladders and access elevated work areas and plant equipment.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as needed to perform essential job functions.

Ability to use hand and power tools and perform repetitive physical tasks associated with plant operations, inspections, cleanup, and basic maintenance.

Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods while maintaining safe work practices in varying plant and outdoor conditions.

• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
