Job summary

BJC HealthCare seeks an experienced Laboratory Supervisor II - Phlebotomy (Night Shift) to oversee inpatient phlebotomy and specimen processing during off hours. This role emphasizes leadership, workflow optimization, and quality assurance to support patient care in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate has strong phlebotomy and staffing experience, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to process improvement in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical science, life science, or related field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory support operations, specimen handling, and quality standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily inpatient phlebotomy operations during night shift.
• Provide leadership for specimen processing and laboratory support functions.
• Create and adjust staff schedules to ensure coverage and efficiency.
• Monitor workflow, quality indicators, and departmental performance metrics.
• Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
• Document performance and coaching activities as needed.
• Foster positive relationships among staff, leadership, and clinical partners.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead problem-solving initiatives.
