Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification from an accredited program (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent).
• Previous phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection per procedures and safety guidelines.
• Verify patient identity and properly label/document all specimens.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area and equipment; comply with infection control and safety standards.
• Communicate with patients to explain procedures and provide compassionate care during blood draws.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff for timely transport and processing of night-shift specimens.
• Monitor phlebotomy supply inventory and report needs to prevent shortages.
• Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and institutional policies to protect patient confidentiality and safety.
