Job summary

Amcor is seeking aMaintenance Mechanic in Smyrna, TN responsible for preventive maintenance, machine guarding, and shutdown handling. You will verify cycle times, load materials, and perform minor repairs to maintain quality and safety on a 12‑hour shift.

Strong reading skills, math usage, and the ability to follow manuals are essential. The role requires teamwork, safety focus, and forklift certification; plastics experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must own basic set of tools.
• Preferably plastics industry experience.
• Able to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend and climb during a 12 hour shift.
• Forklift certifiable.
• Read and follow technical manuals and use math in maintenance work.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Work well with others and safety conscious.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and record work orders promptly.
• Inspect machines for proper guarding and safe operation at start of shift and after breaks.
• Identify priority machines and ensure proper cycle times.
• Make minor adjustments and repairs to fix quality issues.
• Record downtime and report issues to expedite replacements.
• Assist technicians and engineers as needed.
• Changeover equipment and startup procedures.
• Maintain safety compliance and clean work space.
