Job summary

Duke University Hospital's Clinical Laboratories is seeking a dedicated professional to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing in a night shift role. You will collect specimens, prepare them for analysis, and ensure accurate labeling with proper patient identification while upholding quality control and safety standards.

Requires at least 2 years of clinical tech or phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma or GED, and phlebotomy certification as applicable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation recommended for phlebotomy assignment.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Clinical Tech I or phlebotomy certification with required competency.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized procedures.
• Obtain total volume, aliquot and distribute all urine specimens.
• Properly determine urine volume and label aliquot containers.
• Communicate professionally with patients, family, and medical staff.
• Maintain clinical lab records, register/accession patients/specimens, and perform order entry.
• Perform quality control, safety and infection control procedures.
