Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Pediatric Inpatient Phlebotomy technician for the first shift, part-time, on-site at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. You will collect and process patient specimens, label samples correctly, and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory for diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; completion of a phlebotomy training course recommended.
• At least 2 years experience as a Clinical Tech I or certification as a Phlebotomist.
• Certification as a Phlebotomist by a national board may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized phlebotomy procedures.
• Obtain proper urine volume and label containers; ensure accurate specimen labeling.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families and staff.
• Utilize hospital information systems and enter orders as required.
• Maintain inventory and assist with general office tasks as needed.
