Job summary

WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate to perform direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role emphasizes high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff at the Princeton, WV campus.

Responsibilities include observation and reporting of patient changes, assisting in admissions/discharges, vital signs, hygiene, specimen collection, and ensuring a safe environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures and tracks intake/output.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to RN and understands diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks to support operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
